In a compelling demonstration of corporate benevolence and community solidarity, the Victoria Group of Companies on Friday marked Eid celebrations with a significant humanitarian outreach, donating relief aid to Muslim communities in Naminya and Bujowali villages, Jinja.
The donation, aimed at supporting more than 1,000 residents as they concluded the holy month of Ramadan, comprised essential food items including sacks of rice, beans, and sugar, the latter being a flagship product manufactured by Victoria Sugar, a subsidiary under the Group.
While officiating the handover, Mr. Simon Mukose, Operations Manager at Victoria Nile Plastics Ltd, represented the conglomerate and conveyed warm Eid congratulations to the beneficiaries. He commended the Muslim faithful for their spiritual discipline throughout the fasting period and encouraged them to sustain the virtues of generosity, patience, and moral uprightness cultivated during Ramadan season.
Mukose emphasized that the gesture was not merely charitable, but reflective of the Group’s enduring philosophy of community integration and shared prosperity.
Local leaders and residents expressed profound gratitude to the Victoria Group, applauding its consistent efforts in uplifting surrounding communities. Beyond relief donations, the company was recognized for its role in employment creation, particularly for youth within the region, a contribution that continues to bolster household incomes and local economic resilience.
“This support comes at a critical moment and demonstrates that Victoria is not just a business entity but a true partner in our development,” one community representative noted.
The Victoria Group of Companies stands as a diversified industrial conglomerate with a robust footprint across multiple sectors in Uganda’s economy. Its portfolio encompasses manufacturing, agro-processing, and industrial production, with subsidiaries such as Victoria Nile Plastics Ltd and Victoria Sugar in Luwero playing pivotal roles in driving both domestic supply and export capacity.
Renowned for its commitment to quality, innovation, and sustainability, the Group has steadily positioned itself as a key player in Uganda’s industrialization agenda. Its sugar production arm, in particular, has gained prominence for contributing to food security while simultaneously supporting local agriculture through outgrower networks. Sugar cane farmers especially in Bunyoro subregion commend Victoria sugar for among others, for leading a revolution that revised sugar cane out growers’ prices upwards.
Beyond commercial success, Victoria Group has embedded corporate social responsibility into its operational ethos— regularly engaging in community outreach initiatives, infrastructure support, and social welfare programs aimed at improving livelihoods.
The Eid donation underscores the Group’s broader vision of fostering inclusive growth and maintaining strong ties with the communities within which it operates. As Uganda continues to advance its development trajectory, entities like Victoria Group remain instrumental in bridging the gap between corporate success and societal well-being.
Through initiatives such as these, the company not only strengthens its corporate image but also reaffirms its role as a socially conscious enterprise dedicated to national progress.
